Proposition 8 Overturned: Gay Marriage Ban Ruled Unconstitutional
www.huffingtonpost.com

Proposition 8 has been overturned by Chief U.S. District Judge Vaughn Walker, reports CNN. The decision is expected to be appealed to the 9th U.S. Circuit Court, and could reach the Supreme Court if the high court justices agree to review it.

Women's rights coalition partners applaud Congress and the Obama administration for moving quickly to enact the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act. It is a critical new law that preserves the rights of victims of pay discrimination to seek vindication. However, the Ledbetter bill is only a down-payment on making real progress in closing the wage gap. The next critical step is for the Senate to pass the Paycheck Fairness Act (S. 182/H.R. 12); the House already passed the measure in January by an even stronger bipartisan vote (256-163) than the Ledbetter bill (247-171).

Watchdog Not Lapdog Needed to Reform Wall Street
If confirmed, Elizabeth Warren would protect consumers from further economic meltdowns caused by shady loans and credit. She would also demand accountability and consumer-friendly practices from Wall Street banks. But she's not part of the old boys club, so NOW asks: Could sexism be at work in denying her this position?

YOU CAN'T HAVE IT BOTH WAYS: TARGET AND BEST BUY FUND ANTI-LGBT RIGHTS CANDIDATE IN MINNESOTA
by Merrill Miller, Communications Intern
Target and Best Buy, two companies with reputations for being progressive and pro-LGBT rights, have given $150,000 and $100,000 respectively to MN Forward, a political action committee (PAC) that supports Tom Emmer, anti-LGBT rights candidate for Minnesota governor. Though both companies claim that they support Emmer's economic policies, not his social stances, the fact that they're supporting his campaign at all says otherwise.
